Atomic Age

THE ATOMIC AGE

Atomic Age was inspired by watching the television show MAD MEN. When watching MAD MEN I knew from studying art history in the early 1900 - 1920s that Art Deco was prominent. I have always loved the Art Deco’s simple but ominous decor, and I was curious about the design change from from this egalitarian design aesthetic to the Atomic Age that used Googie architecture. This exploration led me down a path where design, history, technology, and society all played a part in how the evolution of aesthetics occurred as a part of the changing culture.
